Via LuxReview, an interesting new California-based lighting company called Goldeneye has launched a ceramic-based lighting fixture series called Airelight.
Ceramics hold promise for interesting LED designs. I’ve covered CeramTec many years ago, which has been a regular at many lighting tradeshows – their stuff looks super futuristic, like something delivered from aliens. There are many examples of ceramic substrates used in fixture and lamp construction, but few ceramic “fixtures”.
I’m a big exponent of radically simplified fixture designs that help drive us toward an “embedded lighting” future, so I wish Goldeneye best of luck in their launch and look forward to seeing what direction they head.
