modcam

Modcam is a Swedish startup that is using cameras for various architectural tracking applications.  Interesting that it is led by folks with a strong background in mobile phone development.  Shows some of the same power of camera-vision systems such as what Panasonic/VS and Toshiba demo’d at Light + Building 2014, or what early installation artists did with stereo vision systems such as Tyzx.

I find it very cool that this system can detect age and gender.  That is not a new capability (I believe I saw it as part of NEC’s Leaf Engine?) but interesting nevertheless how it can be used to make a more comfortable experience or tailored experience in architectural lighting.

THE POWER OF PIXELS

High resolution video holds an immense amount of information – some not visable to the human eye. Our platform gives developers access to every pixel in the video.

MORE THAN PIXELS

Our smart sensor has capabilities beyond imaging  that includes microphone, Bluetooth, GPS, and accelerometer.

A LIVING ECOSYSTEM

The Modcam platform is evolving together with our partners. New algorithms, machine learning and data output is constantly expanding. Reach out to us for a development kit to get started!
