TYZX creates real-time 3D vision systems for a variety of applications. 3D vision systems allow computers to accurately understand the spatial location of people or objects moving through spaces.
These 3D vision products have been around for some time; Electroland has used TYZX systems on a couple of very successful interactive lighting installations from as far back as 2005 (see my previous post). The technology continues to decrease in price, opening the possibilities to use these as very-accurate positional occupancy sensing systems for lighting applications. So rather than a dumb IR-occupancy sensors that simply detect general movement in a room, a 3D vision system will know exactly where in the room the occupant currently is located. This opens the door to a tremendous creative opportunities to reduce energy consumption while enhancing the experience of a space.
