The Holst Centre is an independent research organization located at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven that tries to bridge the gap between academia and industry. The center has a variety of big name industrial partners and strong connections to the technical universities plus some government support in the Netherlands.
I’m highlighting this group because they’re performing fundamental research in a variety of topics that will drive the future of luminous surface and advanced lighting:
Flexible electronics, such as large area printing techniques, electrode and barrier technologies, printed conductive structures for flexible substrates, printed organic transistors, etc.
Technology integration, such as for lighting, signage, organic photovoltaics, thin film batteries and sensors; organic conductors; laminated combinations, etc.
This is the stuff you’ll be specifying in about five years from now!
