AI and the mind’s eye

My entire life, I’ve had a wild surplus of imagination. What has limited me is the ability to extract what’s in my mind… to share my “mind’s eye” with the world.

Here’s my grand theory: AI will allow those of us with genuinely rich imaginations to thrive, because we’ll finally be able to share our inner worlds more freely and vividly than ever before.

AI will not simply “replace creatives” as so many fear.

But it will certainly punish the posers.

The creative professionals most fearful of AI are the ones who desperately want the world to believe they’re “creative” but actually have very limited, stilted imaginations. They aren’t truly creative. They’ve simply hidden behind the barriers of technical or professional craft to convince others they are. AI is simply going to reveal whose been “swimming naked when the tide goes out”.

What will happen is that these unimaginative professionals will use AI and become more mediocre than ever, since most AI really just finds the average of whatever data you’re parsing.

Truly imaginative professionals will push the limits of AI, until those AI systems can’t simply “average” their way into showing you your craziest dreams. When you’re a few conceptual leaps ahead of your AI system, that’s were you will find the good stuff…the truly “new to the world” concepts.
