Over the years I have predicted that it might make sense to manufacture lighting fixtures in portable units directly at construction sites.  My reasoning is:

1. Lighting will become “embedded” into final architectural surfaces
2. Parametric design, BIM, and digital fabrication are driving ever more complexity into architectural projects
3. LED technology will become delivered more like an ink that can be printed, not pick’n’place semiconductor components

So it is nice to see concepts by CNC manufacturers on how they can create portable mini factories at construction sites.  Check out this post on Dezeen about Danish company Odico.
