Six-Forty by Four-Eighty Installation

Two MIT Media Lab alumi, Jamie Zigelbaum and Marcelo Coelho, put together a creative little  interactive lighting installation using battery powered, touch sensitive, magnetically mounted and repositionable color tiles that communicate with each other wirelessly.

In addition to the touch sensitivity, they are controllable via IR remote.  Check out the video for the full functionality of the system:

I suggest that with some sort of permanet, flexible power grid, these could one day become so low cost that they could be used to tile complete architectural spaces.
