Here is a highlight collection of Brad Koerner’s future-envisioning presentations focused on the digital innovations in the built environment. Enjoy!
2024 – The Luxury of Digital Walls
A presentation looking towards the future of creating immersive digital experiences for luxury residential and hospitality applications. I delivered this presentation at CEDIA in Denver, at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles and at the Ideaworks showroom in London. I recorded the London event with a group of interior designers (so enjoy it for the thought leadership, not my amateur video production skills).
2022 – Every Surface a Screen: Now What?
A keynote I delivered at Integrated Systems Europe during the Smart Buildings Conference, intended to help the audience broaden their perceptions of architectural-scale digital displays from mere “digital signage” to more thoughtful implementation of immersive digital experiences.
2022 – Specifying a Brighter Future
A keynote on sustainable product design I presented at the IALD Enlighten Conference in Palm Springs. The presentation was incredibly well received but unfortunately not recorded, so I laid my voiceover over the slide deck.
2020 – Six Disruptive Trends in Lighting
I was originally asked to write a piece looking at architectural lighting trends for the next decade as part of the IESNA Visionary Challenge, Beyond 2030 project. I wrote “Six Trends…” and shared it as a in-depth podcast episode for the smart building media site Memoori.
2020 – The DC Powered Building
For half a year, I worked with a founder focused on DC-power systems for retail applications. He unfortunately ran out of funding, but I took the knowledge I learned and delivered this keynote address to the Smart Buildings Conference at Integrated Systems Europe. This presentation in particular has been very popular in the very niche world of DC-power startups, a sort of “call to arms” for transforming basic building infrastructure.
2019 – Revelations and Resonance
This was a side project I did as a competition entry, summarizing and exploring my long-running interest in ambient communications for immersive digital experiences.
2016 – Luminous Patterns
Luminous Patterns was a corporate venture I conceived, pitched, developed and led for 4 years at Philips Lighting. This video was an early internal marketing piece we made, using only a few product prototypes we had built so far at that point.
2015 – Embedded Lighting
Further supporting my Luminous Patterns corporate venture, I pitched the concept of “embedded lighting” and how that will become a huge new category fusing lighting into architectural finish systems. I pitched the same story countless times internally within the company, at conferences and tradeshows, and for various media pieces. This was one of the few recordings I made of the early presentation, during a day of hosting local Dutch designers.
