As I’ve been a huge advocate for decarbonizing and detoxifying lighting now for over a decade, this is near and dear to my heart. And for my colleagues who’ve seen my own design pitch for biomaterial-based lighting/ceiling hybrid systems, Michael Green’s proposal very much aligns with my vision. Future ceiling systems will be hybrid acoustic/lighting systems, using molded fibrous biomaterial stocks, parametric in design and digital in fabrication. And they will look stunningly beautiful, producing an entirely new aesthetic.

Bonus: They will be fed by centralized DC power/net zero islanded electrical systems for superb efficiency.
