Brad Koerner – Curator and Editor
Brad Koerner is an architectural lighting designer and experienced product manager in the LED lighting industry. Brad brings to his role the unique vantage point of having been both a lighting specifier and a manufacturer, understanding both the technical intricacies and the real-world, practical application of LED technology.
Brad is currently Director of Experience Design in the Iconic Projects Team at Philips Lighting, located in Amsterdam. In this role Brad works with select clients on global projects with strong potential for new product innovations. Brad connects Philips’ most advanced technologies and best services with its most creative customers.
Previously, Brad was the Lighting Market Manager for Color Kinetics, a leading innovator of LED lighting systems and technologies. Brad was responsible for new concept development and product roadmap planning.
Brad worked as a lighting designer in the Boston area at Lam Partners Inc. in Cambridge, Massachusetts, a leading architectural lighting design firm. Brad was responsible for a variety of projects, including a private eco resort, public art foundation, retail prototype and several academic facilities. Brad received an Illumination Award from the IESNA for his LED retrofit of the Custom House Tower in Boston. At Light This!, Brad was responsible for wide-ranging projects including commercial office spaces, biotech laboratories, academic facilities, landscape and site lighting projects, hospitality facilities and retail facilities. In 2005, Brad and Daina Yurkus were recognized with the prestigious IALD Award of Merit for the Montage Gallery in Boston. Brad interned at Ripman Lighting Consultants, where his projects included several historic building facades, fine art galleries, and the creation of the Lighting Action Plan for the City of Boston.
Brad received his Master of Architecture degree from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University, where he received the IALD Education Trust Fund Grant and the IESNA Richard Kelly Grant for his research into the convergence of architecture, digital lighting technologies and interactive control. Brad received his B.S. in Architecture at the University of Virginia. He has lectured for the IALD, IESNA, SEGD and his work has been published in Architectural Record, Professional Lighting Design, ID Magazine, and Interiors.
